Great place with great service and good food

Went only for a meal this time but have stayed at a previous visit. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It was just 2 days before Christmas, so very busy. Therefore, service was a little slow. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was excellent. We sat in the bar area at the large table, and it was so cosy!

Negatives: Car park slots somewhat small for modern cars. Room had no apparent room heating control and no Air Con. TV could only manage BBC 1 & 2. TV had no streaming or cast functionality. TV outdated. Wheelchair rear access from car park limited. Positives: Very high quality food/chef(s) and service and seating in Bistro. Room decor very good with high quality fittings. History interesting and exterior well maintained. Opinion: Overall very good. Updates/maintenance needed to TV system - larger screen and streaming/cast functionalities. Consider 45 deg. parking. Revision to room heating/cooling. Reasonable value for money. Would recommend and return. Addendum: On checkout the Bell Inn took 2 payments, 1 in error for the previous evenings dinner. They said they had cancelled one of these payments and noted this on the invoice/receipt they handed to us. *But* in actual fact although cancelled on their system it was not cancelled on the VISA banking system and remained on our VISA account for 5 +2 days before being automatically removed by the VISA/Banking system after this time period. We told the Bell Inn about this but they made no effort to cancel the erroneous VISA transaction. This meant that this money could not be used as the VISA system reserves that money until claimed or cancelled by the merchant. Although the amount wasn't that large it could have been a few thousand pounds. So this merchant needs to revise their transaction method to stop this from happening in the future. Caution advised.

Comfortable room and bed with tea/coffee making facilities. Shower worked perfectly with good flow rate. Excellent English breakfast; top quality products excellently cooked. Free parking at the back or on the main road.

Food is excellent, price reasonable service a little bit slow but it was Saturday night and they were very busy and very polite and professional! Staff were very helpful.

Haven't been here for such along time Met up with a friend for brunch Had Eggs Benedictine which was Excellent Prehaps try coming for dinner soon Particularly as we are coming into Winter and they have a lovely log burning stove in the bar area

We booked 2 nights in September 2024. After we checked in were were told that the restaurant was closed AND that we would have to book one of the remaining time slots if we wanted to eat in the Bistro. After ordering, we waited for 1 hour for a basic meal in the Bistro. The servers were very noisy clattering with tableware, cutlery, etc. right behind our table. We had to eat our meal to the sound of a dog barking loudly in the Bistro; very squalid. Staff were generally polite when addressed but management were indifferent to our discomfort and nit-picking over charges. Our room had not been fully cleaned when we entered it. The reception staff and management were completely absent in the evening. This Inn seems to exist due to the lack of local competition and its perceived "olde world" charm but it badly needs better management. We won't go there again.

The food in our opinion was overpriced and the service was extremely slow and at times not customer friendly especially when told there was a wedding group coming in and that would affect what they could and couldn’t do. On a personal note I felt my scallops dish was extremely expensive for what was served. Won’t be returning anytime soon.

Great pub. Friendly welcome. Helpful service. Interesting food and drink selection. Had a great evening, sitting outside in the early summer weather. Highly recommend. Jealous of those that have this gem as their local. Give them a visit. You won't be disappointed.

The venue is absolutely beautiful and historic. The inside of the downstairs restaurant is quite outdated and smells quite pungent (and not in a good way) Service was good and the food was good too. The cheeses and caramelised onion were wonderful. I really enjoyed the salad dressing too! Wine was quite expensive though. Overall the entire experience was fine, no frills. It definitely is the go to if you’re in Stilton!

Very good meals and waiting staff. The small bedroom was made much more difficult by the placing of the bed with a very tight space down one side. Added to that the 2 parts of the bed were not aligned, as I discovered when I stubbed my toe on the obtruding section. It would not be easy to have a shave in the bathroom. It was difficult to get out of the bathroom because the door/lock jammed. The indifference of the deputy general manager to my reporting the deficiencies was unexpected.

Family of four, evening bar menu requested and booked. Two children 15yrs, two adults. When booking online, I asked for the snug for a quiet area - got told not available on arrival, pitty they didnt tell me this before arriving. Had table next to an overweight gentleman that constantly stared at us, and coughed a lot, with heavy breathing, made the children feel uncomfortable. Food very very expensive, but good quality. Not much available as bar snacks, expect to spend best part of £100 on four simple meals.(not including starters or deserts) Sticky tabletop, plenty of flys, no evidence of fly traps/eliminators. Very slow, un-attentive service. As a final surprise, a whopping 10% service fee automatically added to the bill. The staff member did say it was discretionary, and removed it. The whole experience wasnt geared to a quality pleasant meal as portrayed by the website. It actually made a quite uncomfortable evening. It's geared for staff convenience and making as much money as possible. Shame because we have been here several times in previous years and it's been pleasant. It you want a nice courtyard and outside drink in a country pub, then this is perfect.
